Proven Quality Assurance

Geotext puts every translation through a QA protocol that includes copy editing, proofreading, and glossary implementation. All of these services, as well as basic formatting and real-time document tracking, are included in our standard rates.

Cost-Saving Solutions

A cost-saving solution that ignores quality isn’t actually a solution – it’s a problem. Generalist firms using “bargain” translators, for example, often create more work (and expense) for you in the end, as you may be faced with repairing a substandard translation.

Geotext, the legal-translation specialist, is committed to reducing your costs while delivering the high quality you and your clients expect.

Document review, on- or off-site
Thousands of files; millions of words. Our linguists will review each source document for relevance, allowing you to be selective about the files you choose for full translation.

Case study
We assembled an off-site team of forty translators to review and index more than two million pages for possible translation. Our team summarized, coded, and created indexes for the designated text, allowing our client to select only essential files for full translation. We reduced turnaround time and saved our client tens of thousands of dollars.

Systematized duplicate elimination
If your translation provider isn’t screening for duplication, they’re costing you money.

To keep your costs as low as possible, we screen and index each submission, whether from your internal team, co-counsel, or your e-discovery provider, then apply specialized CAT (computer-assisted translation) tools to build translation memories (TMs). Subsequent submissions are screened against the existing translations. Savings increase over time, as case-specific TMs expand.

Case studies

  1. Our client is involved in a major litigation. By centralizing procurement with Geotext, they’ve ensured that each submission is screened for duplication against a translation library that now comprises millions of words. The result? More than $1,000,000 saved to date.
  2. We’re assisting three firms (two in the US; one in the UK) with an investigation. Among recent UK-sourced submissions, we’ve identified nearly 50% duplication across prior US-sourced submissions. The savings will exceed $50,000.

Summary translation
Sometimes, full translation isn’t necessary. A summary translation can be useful for informational purposes, and can help you identify which files are relevant to your case.

Case study
We received a request for expedited translation of 18 agreements in 4 languages. Knowing that cost-reduction was a priority for our client, we proposed having our linguists search the source files for critical information, which would then be translated, and provide in-depth summaries – rather than translating the agreements in full. Our client saved 82% when compared to full translation cost.

Editing existing translations
Geotext will revise prior versions of translations when appropriate, saving you the expense of a completely new translation.

Case study
We received a request for expedited translation of 7 financial statements comprising 43,000 words. Noting significant duplication among the source files, we performed full translation of one of the statements to use as a “base translation” to be edited at a discounted hourly rate. Our approach delivered savings to our client of nearly 60%.
